![]() Like for reals, you all need to get that fixed before you get sued or condemned. ![]() When we arrived in the evening, we first noticed the sketchy stairs that where hella warped, serious hazard. Drove up to big bear from chino hills to escape the heat. ![]() Let me start off by saying I've never walked out of a room I've booked before.until Black Forest. I haven’t had an unpleasant experience like this at a hotel in a long time and I was eager to leave the property to drive home for a good nights rest. If a place seems neglected and unsanitary I don’t bother returning. Overall I would not recommend nor stay here again. We tried taking a nap in the afternoon and couldn’t really because of how loud the upstairs neighbors were and the street noise. We left a night early because I simply could not fathom having to stay there another night. I’m assuming they have hardwood floors upstairs because we heard every little movement. I called front desk and they took care of it immediately. The second was the upstairs neighbor turning on their jacuzzi at 1:30am. Front desk told us we just needed to wait 15 min for it to reset, which it did and we took a hot shower. The entire building shared a water heater so when we arrived back after a day of skiing there was no hot water. A few hiccups during our stay was the noise and hot water. The room had 2 hangers in the closet and no iron. They also don’t have AC so when it felt warm we had to turn the heater off for it to cool down. The toiletries were covered in dirt and the towel they were wrapped in as well. There were holes in the wall where I assume they had wanted to place a towel rack and chose not to but didn’t bother covering it up. One set of blinds would not shut which was hard to sleep at night because of the bright fluorescent lights next door. This motel is very old and you can tell the moment you walk inside. The best thing about this hotel was it’s location, friendly staff and the fact that we were able to check in early- that’s about it. I booked a 2 night stay at this lodge for a ski trip and left a day early.

His safety did not improve when his father died (85) and the victorious Sulla returned from Asia (82). After all, he was the son of the brother of Marius' wife. The so-called "Sulla"įrom now on, Caesar's life was in danger. Two relatives of Caesar's father, Lucius Julius Caesar and Gaius Julius Caesar Strabo, were killed. During Sulla's absence, Marius returned, massacred all his enemies, had himself elected consul (86), but died a few days later of natural causes. Marius was forced to flee to Africa, and Sulla went to Asia Minor again, where he defeated Mithridates. This was the beginning of the First Civil War. After his departure, Marius was given the same command by the People's Assembly. The Romans wanted revenge, and the Senate appointed Sulla as a general in this First Mithridatic War (88-84). It is unknown where Caesar's family was in those days (it is certain that Caesar's father was no longer Asia's governor). ![]() The inhabitants of this province welcomed him as their liberator, and murdered many Italians and Romans. While the Romans were fighting at home, an old enemy saw his chance: king Mithridates VI of Pontus (ruled 121-63 BCE) attacked the Roman possessions in Asia Minor in 88. By diplomatic ways, Rome divided the rebels: in 90, Lucius Julius Caesar (an uncle) promised Roman citizenship to those Italians who had remained faithful, and in 89 a similar law promised citizenship to those who gave up fighting. Marius was appointed general and had some success more important, however, were the victories of Lucius Cornelius Sulla, a man who was considered to be one of the optimates. The Italians had fought to conquer the Mediterranean world, but thought that they had not reaped the benefits of it. This war originated in the fact that the Roman allies in Italy felt that they had never received a fair share in the spoils of the Roman empire, which in those days included Andalusia, southern Castile, Catalonia, the Provence, Italy, the Dalmatian coast, Greece and Macedonia, Asia Minor, Cyprus, Crete, and modern Tunisia. During the subsequent year, he served as a governor in Asia Minor it is likely, therefore, that the young Caesar was outside Italy when the Social War started. But the Marii and Julii were still influential, and in 92, Caesar's father was elected praetor (a magistrate whose most important function was the administration of justice). ![]() When Caesar was still an infant, Marius lost much of his earlier popularity, and eventually left Rome to travel in Greece and Asia Minor, hoping for some new command. The opposite group, the optimates, played the political game in the Senate. It is unclear what this label means (for some speculations, see below), but modern historians tend to believe that it means that Marius tried to reach his political aims through the People's Assembly. His contemporaries called Marius a popularis. So, Caesar belonged to an influential family. The connections between the Marius and the Julius families were very close: Marius was married to a sister of Caesar's father, Julia. When Gaius Julius Caesar was born, the leading man in Rome was Gaius Marius, who had saved the Roman republic several years before by defeating two Germanic tribes, the Teutones (102) and the Cimbri (101). ![]() ![]() ![]() Subsequently, during the reign of the twelfth emperor Keikō, the sword was enshrined at Atsuta in Owari province, in what is today called Atsuta Shrine (Atsuta Jingū). In the year 1040 (Chōkyū 1, 9th month), the Sacred Mirror was burned in a fire. From there the treasures passed into the hands of the Imperial House of Japan. They were given, with the sword Kusanagi, to Amaterasu's grandson, Ninigi-no-Mikoto, when he went to pacify Japan. ![]() In the Japanese mythology this mirror and the Yasakani no magatama were hung from a tree to lure out Amaterasu from a cave. Japanese folklore is rich in stories of life before mirrors were commonplace. ![]() Mirrors in ancient Japan represented truth because they merely reflected what was shown, and were a source of much mystique and reverence (being uncommon items). The regalia represent the three primary virtues: valor (the sword), wisdom (the mirror), and benevolence (the jewel).ĭue to the legendary status of these items, their locations are not confirmed, but it is commonly thought that the sword is located at Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya, the jewel is located at Kōkyo (the Imperial Palace) in Tōkyō, and the mirror is located in the Grand Shrine of Ise in Mie prefecture. The Imperial Regalia of Japan (三種の神器, Sanshu no Jingi / Mikusa no Kandakara), also known as the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan, consist of Shinkyoo 神鏡 Shinkyo - "mirror of the kami", divine mirror As one of the Three Sacred Treasures, it is considered to precious to show and so it is not known what it looks like, and some even consider it the most precious of the three artifacts. The Yata no Kagami is said to still be held within a chamber in the Ise Shrine that worships Amaterasu. The mirror that was used during this mythological event is said to be the Yata no Kagami, which Amaterasu kept until it was given to her grandson Ninigi-no-Mikoto when he was sent to pacify Japan. Amaterasu accepted and returned to the heavens, bringing the sun with her. She left the cave, and the other gods quickly blocked the entrance, persuading her to stay. Curious to know what the fuss was about, Amaterasu looked out of the cave, and saw her own reflection in a mirror Uzume had placed in her view. The other gods began to laugh, even more so when she shed her "clothing" and danced naked. Dressing herself in flowers, she started dancing on top of an overturned tub in front of the cave. Placing a mirror in front of the cave which had been forged by the diety of mirrors, Ishikori-dome, she began her plan. Although many dieties tried to lure her out with many different methods, all failed until Ame-no-Uzume made an attempt. After a fierce argument with her brother Susano-o, Amaterasu hid inside the Ama-no-Iwato ("heavenly rock cave"), which hid the light and warmth of the sun from the world. ![]() ![]() Related: The most extreme human spaceflight records Former NASA engineer James Oberg, who personally knows Ross and the person who took the photos, cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, has demonstrated that these supposed images of the Black Knight actually depict a very mundane object. Pointing to possible strategies for a feminist politics of transversal engagements and suggesting a politics of bodily resistance that does not disavow forms of vulnerability, the contributors develop a new conception of embodiment and sociality within fields of contemporary power. The essays offer a feminist account of political agency by exploring occupy movements and street politics, informal groups at checkpoints and barricades, practices of self-defense, hunger strikes, transgressive enactments of solidarity and mourning, infrastructural mobilizations, and aesthetic and erotic interventions into public space that mobilize memory and expose forms of power. They consider how vulnerability is constructed, invoked, and mobilized within neoliberal discourse, the politics of war, resistance to authoritarian and securitarian power, in LGBTQI struggles, and in the resistance to occupation and colonial violence. Focusing on political movements and cultural practices in different global locations, including Turkey, Palestine, France, and the former Yugoslavia, the contributors to Vulnerability in Resistance articulate an understanding of the role of vulnerability in practices of resistance. Vulnerability and resistance have often been seen as opposites, with the assumption that vulnerability requires protection and the strengthening of paternalistic power at the expense of collective resistance. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Goldilocks Bakery is a Philippine-based chain of bakeries that specializes in providing Filipino cakes and pastry.
